Drive Eastlake, West El Paso or Montana right now and you'll see names you used to only see across the bridge. Restaurant brands from Mexico are opening in El Paso, and they're taking real space to do it. Here's who already crossed, why they're picking El Paso, and what it means if you own a center or run a restaurant here.

## The Short Version

More restaurant brands from Juárez, Chihuahua and the rest of Mexico are opening in El Paso every year. Some come straight across the bridge. Others open in San Antonio or Houston first and work their way to El Paso. Either way, they're growing brands with fans already waiting for them here.

## Who Already Crossed

**Elotelandia** started in Juárez and opened its first El Paso store in Eastlake in 2025. A second El Paso store opened on N Zaragoza in August 2026.

**Basilico**, the Italian restaurant from Juárez, opened in Eastlake and then added a second El Paso store in Kern Place.

**Las Espadas**, the Brazilian steakhouse with restaurants in Juárez and Chihuahua, brought its concept to Gateway Boulevard East in El Paso, with plans to hire about 130 workers.

**Maria Titina**, a bar and restaurant from Chihuahua city, opened its first US location in West El Paso in 2026.

**Sin Yolanda** came from Guadalajara. It opened on the San Antonio River Walk in December 2025, then The Woodlands and Houston. Its El Paso restaurant and cantina opened October 9 and 10, 2026, at 340 Vin Rambla Drive in Montecillo.

**Gorditas Doña Tota** is opening inside OXXO stores in El Paso, with more El Paso sites planned.

**Burritos Crisostomo** from Juárez keeps adding El Paso stores, including a new one on Montana by the airport in 2025.

None of this is new, either. **Taco Tote** opened its first restaurant in Juárez in 1988 and came to Texas in 1994, adding El Paso stores within a few years.

## Why El Paso

**The customers already know them.** El Paso County is 82.8% Hispanic, and 68% of residents speak a language other than English at home. A brand from Juárez or Chihuahua doesn't have to explain itself here.

**People already cross to eat.** Plenty of El Pasoans have been eating at these places in Juárez for years. When the brand opens on this side, the line forms on day one.

**It's close enough to run.** An owner in Juárez or Chihuahua can manage an El Paso store without moving. That's a lot harder in Dallas or Houston.

**It's a door to the rest of Texas.** Mexican brands are opening across the state, from San Antonio to Dallas to Austin. For a Chihuahua brand, El Paso is the natural first stop.

## What It Means for Landlords

These brands aren't looking for 1,200 SF. Many take bigger second generation spaces, sit down layouts, bars and patios. If you have a large former restaurant space sitting empty, a growing brand from Mexico may be your best tenant, even if they've never signed a US lease before.

The timing matters. El Paso has seen a run of restaurant closures this month, including Whiskey Dick's, The Melting Pot and Rudy's on South Desert Boulevard. Big, fully built restaurant spaces like those are exactly what these brands are looking for.

Be ready for first time US tenants. Expect questions about the US company they'll sign under, guarantees, and how long the build out and permits take.

## What It Means for Local Operators

**Competition for restaurant ready space is going up.** When a good second generation space opens up, you may be bidding against a brand with 10 stores in Mexico behind it.

**Don't wait for a listing.** The best spaces get spoken for before they're marketed. If you're planning a second store, start looking now.

## If You're a Brand in Mexico Thinking About El Paso

**Set up your US company first.** Landlords will want to know who's signing the lease. Talk to a US attorney and accountant before you look at space.

**Plan the build out time.** Permits and construction in El Paso take months. Negotiate free rent to cover that time.

**Pick the side of town your customers come from.** Eastlake, the East side, West El Paso and the Northeast all have different crowds. Know where your fans from Juárez already live.

**Get the right team.** Architect, general contractor, someone who knows the city permit process, and a tenant rep who knows which spaces are coming up before they're listed.

**Thinking about opening your first or next store in El Paso?**

We track El Paso restaurant space before it's listed, and tenant representation costs you nothing because the landlord pays the broker. [Get your free El Paso restaurant site list here.](https://blog.anchorpointcommercial.com/el-paso-restaurant-space)
